CannaRecovery

Summary

CannaRecovery is an online support group dedicated to fighting the stigma of harm reduction practices in recovery. Our mission is to create a safe and inclusive environment for those seeking alternative pathways. We believe connection holds power and foster this idea through meetings, fellowship, and sharing our lived experience. Together we are committed to making a positive impact in our community and carrying a message of hope, strength, and healing.

Overview

Many peer-led recovery communities—like GRASS or Wellbriety—develop organically among participants seeking support, without forming structured organizations with formal founding histories. Documented records about the specific history or founding timeline of the CannaRecovery organization—such as its founder(s), date of inception, and early development—as these details don’t appear to be publicly shared. CannaRecovery appears to be shaped by their collective mission rather than geographic or institutional origins.

CannaRecovery is defined primarily by its purpose—to challenge stigma around harm-reduction and create a welcoming, inclusive recovery community where cannabis (and, where relevant, Medication-Assisted Treatment) are accepted as valid paths.

The organization functions entirely online, hosting peer-led Zoom meetings, providing a member-curated handbook, and sharing resources like crisis hotlines, MAT support, and tools like Never Use Alone.

Their guiding principles emphasize harm reduction, neutrality in belief systems, self-supporting funding, anonymity, and respect for diverse recovery journeys—suggesting a philosophy deeply rooted in peer-support traditions

Guidelines

  1. Our only requirement for membership is the desire to use harm reduction practices to enhance your recovery and life.
  2. We believe group unity and integrity fosters recovery; please put the health of the group above individual personalities.
  3. CannaRecovery believes all forms of recovery are valid. Abstinence is not a requirement, but we ask you to limit talk to cannabis and MAT to maintain a safe environment for all our members.
  4. All religions are welcome and respected here. Please allow members to process their spiritual experiences as they see fit.
  5. We are a fully self-supporting group with no outside contributions. All donations are voted on at our business meeting the first Wednesday of each month.
  6. CannaRecovery supports anonymity on a personal level. Please keep other members’ privacy a top priority.
  7. Please do not use the CannaRecovery name on any outside groups, chats, or online marketing or media.
